Stale polluted air is continuously extracted from toilets, bathrooms, kitchen and utility rooms via flexible ducting to the heat exchanger before being discharged outside.
At the same time, incoming fresh air is passed through filters and on through the heat exchanger where it is heated using the latent heat energy in the exhaust air. Typically up to 90% of the heat normally lost via trickle vents and open windows is recovered in this way.
The pre-warmed, filtered fresh air is delivered into the other rooms of the home creating a flow of fresh air throughout the whole house, resulting in a high standard of internal air quality.
When heat recovery is not required (i.e. the summer) the heat exchanger block can be replaced by a summer bypass block (in some units this is automatic). This will increase the air flow and may give a cooling effect on hot summer days.
An additional comfort cooling unit can also be added to the system to provide a 7-10°C temperature drop on the supply air resulting in a typical 2-3°C temperature drop in the room.
We offer a wide range of heat recovery ventilation units that can be sited either in the roof space, at high level in a cupboard, or alternatively the unit can be wall mounted.
