Once you purchased and installed the panels they will simply sit on your roof and with no moving parts they will require very little in the way of maintenance. For a small fee you can extend the warrantee on your panels for a hassle free 25 years of return on your investment.

Your roof faces between south-east and south-west
There is nothing to shade the panels (chimneys, aerials , dormer windows)
Your house is not listed
You have enough roof space
How long will the panels last
The panels have a design life of 25 years but are said to last between 25 and 40 years. They will be 90% efficient after 10 years and 80 efficient after 25. (Approx 1% per year degradation.)
What does it look like.
In terms of Aesthetics, the panels are very much down to personal taste. On the house shown above, the panels look not much different to a sky window.
