Dimplex announced as nominated supplier for Low Carbon Buildings Programme
12th December 2006
The DTI has announced that Dimplex are now one of only three nominated suppliers of ground source heat pumps able to access over £7.5m funding under Phase 2 of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme grant scheme.
As an Approved Installer of Dimplex’s extensive range of ground source heat pumps, EcoVision are now strongly positioned to offer our Clients in the public sector (including social housing and schools) access to significant subsidies on ground source heat pump installations.
This second phase of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, announced by the Chancellor in the 2005 Budget, will provide a total of £50 million in grants over the next 18 months to help subsidise the installation of renewable technologies such as ground source heat pumps, solar panels, and micro-wind turbines. Of this £50 million, £7.5m has been specifically ring-fenced to subsidise ground source heat pumps in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In a call for grant applications Alistair Darling, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, said: "It is vital that we cut the CO2 emissions from our buildings if we are to reach the UK's 60% reduction target by 2050. Combining energy efficiency measures with the fitting of microgeneration technologies on schools and other public sector buildings can and will make a real difference.
"We can now enable suppliers to bring costs down for the benefit of consumers and make the investments required to further develop the industry."
Grants are available to any of the following organisations seeking support from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme to assist with the costs of buying and installing low or zero carbon technologies:
Phase 2 Low Carbon Buildings Programme funding is open to:
- Housing developers or commercial building developers
- Social housing providers (e.g. housing associations)
- Businesses
- Local authorities
- Other public bodies (e.g. schools, hospitals, universities)
- Energy service companies
- Voluntary/charitable organisations, community groups
