Work out how much income a Heat Pump in your home could generate for you from the RHI with our Heat Pump Calculator

We’ve made some changes to our homepage and added a few tools that we think will be of use to you: Because of the success of our unique Domestic Solar Calculator that has seen thousands of you work out how much income can be generated from a Solar PV system on the roof of your home we have done the same for Heat Pumps.

Next year will see the roll out of the Renewable Heat Incentive Tariff for domestic Air Source Heat Pumps. DECC has issued a statement outlining the proposed range of payments, we have taken the average rate of 9.2 and created the Heat Pump Calculator that you can find on the homepage.

Type in the postcode of the house you want to make that calculation for and hit “calculate”, you will be shown an aerial view of your community using Google Maps, click on your house and click on it again to select.

In a few steps you will be able to work out the area of your home that you would like to heat. You start by drawing around the shape of your ground floor, this is typically the largest floor of your house as it may include a conservatory.

You then add the next floor up and draw around that – the calculator will keep track of the area. Keep adding floors if you need to, lastly, roughly pinpoint where your boiler is, fill in your details and you’re done.

On screen will be returned the amount of income a Heat Pump will generate for you per year and the total amount you will receive after the full 7 year RHI payment term. Also we will show which Heat Pump we recommend would be most suited to your property and the expected “payback” period which is the amount of time it will take for you to be paid back on your investment.

For example:

“Using the average air source heat pump tariff of 9.2p/kWh you would receive an annual payment of approximately £2,817.50* each year for 7 years.

Total RHI Payment = £2,817.50 x 7 years = £19,722.48

We recommend the "Premium" 16kW Heat Pump Package at £7999 inc. VAT** may be suitable for your property.

Not taking into account of the fuel savings, this will give a payback period of less than 3 years”

You will also benefit from the money saved in the reduction of your fuel bill; a Heat Pump could save you as much as 70% on your bill against a fossil fuel boiler.
