What We Do
We are the leading, professional accredited experts in the design and installation of heat pumps, Biomass, underfloor heating, and solar PV for commercial buildings. Ecovision’s commercial division works with M&E Consultants, Architects, Mechanical and Main Contractors, Developers, Not-for-profit Organisations, Government Offices, Large Corporate bodies, Schools and Colleges. We also provide a straightforward consultancy service to clients wishing to investigate renewable options.
If you own or operate from commercial premises or you pay business rates on your property then you are very likely to be eligible for the NON-DOMESTIC RHI. This guarantees you a payment for every unit of heat you produce from a renewable source for a period of twenty years – in most cases this shortens the payback period for your capital investment to under 10 years leaving you with free heating for the remaining period. For more details go to our Grants page or call our commercial team who will be happy to answer your questions. Our portfolio of case studies cover the following business types:
Schools, Colleges and Universities
Ecovision has a huge amount of experience from working with Schools and Colleges our list of clients is extensive and we understand the requirements of buildings where children or young adults spend large amounts of time. As Ecovision is vendor and technology neutral we are not influenced or pushed in any particular direction by a manufacturer, this means that we can provide the correct solution for the building and draw from our extensive experience with older building types. Installed systems have included air, ground and water source heat pumps, Biomass, Solar PV and Solar thermal.
Schools, Colleges and Universities that we have recently worked with include: Harrow school, Manchester University, Baylis Court School, Bankside Primary School, Berkeley Primary School, Wyke 6th form College, Bournville School, Broadway First Primary School, Bromfords School, Coopers Edge School, Cottenham College, Missenden School, Epworth Primary School, Farnham School, Fitzwaryn School, Haileybury College, Hayesfield School, Henrietta Barnett School, Kemnal Technology College, Kingfisher Primary School, Lydiard Millicent School, Maple Walk School, Reddish Primary School, Royal Agricultural College, Royton School, Sandal Magma School, Springfield Junior School, Stockbridge School, Whitton School, St Mary’s RC School. Please see Commercial case studies for more information.
Hospitals and care Homes
Hospitals and Care homes require high levels of heating and cooling as well as significant amounts of hot water availability. Ecovision has completed work on highly sophisticated systems which include integration of renewable systems with other forms of heating, also using ground source heat pumps to provide heating and cooling to large buildings utilizing varied emitter types such as underfloor or radiator based systems and including heating and cooling via beams in the ceilings.
Recent work has included Houghton Primary Care Centre, the Hope Family Centre and the Surrey Child Adolescent Centre. Please see Commercial case studies for more information.
Offices and business premises
Offices vary enormously in their heating and cooling needs, each business premises needs to be assessed on its own merit. Ecovision offer a free consultation to businesses who are interested in saving money, benefitting from the RHI and reducing their carbon emissions. Installations have included Printing factories, Shopping Centres, Office buildings, Fire Stations and Public buildings.
Ecovision have installed a highly sophisticated system at Daresbury Technology Centre in Warrington, one of the largest open loop systems in the UK. Please take a moment to read the case study.
Community and Leisure
There are many applications for heat pumps, the structure and layout of a building will dictate the type of heat pump and where the heat will be sourced. Many Community buildings are in tight urban spaces where a ground source heat pump is not an option but an air source heat pump is ideal, often in multiples. Ecovision has carried out installations in over 50 Village halls across the UK, many with a heat pump / Solar combination to reduce carbon emissions and making the cost of running the halls more manageable.
There are also many opportunities for Sports and Leisure Centres to benefit from renewable installations particularly with the support of the RHI making the paybacks short and years of free heat possible. Ecovision have installed systems in properties as diverse as Rowing Clubs, Cricket pavilions, Football and Rugby Clubs as well as a number of Lido’s where savings of up to 70% over oil have been achieved.
Many Sports Clubs have a large hot water requirement for the showers, heat pumps can provide as much hot water as necessary and be eligible for the RHI. Please see Commercial case studies for more information.
Animal Houses and farms
Ecovision have provided excellent facilities for a number of Zoos throughout the UK, using heat pumps for an Antelope House, two giraffe enclosures and an Elephant House. Heat pumps and Solar installations reduce the cost of heating and running the animal enclosures and this is something that has also been applied to a number of Dairy farms and large volume animal enclosures.
Churches
Ecovision has completed work on a number of Church restoration projects including St Catherine’s Church in Hinkley, the Greek Orthodox Church in Birmingham, St John’s Church, St Mary’s Church and a Synagogue in London as well as many more. The installations have all been different as the requirements of a Church are different to a normal office building, often large open spaces with poor insulation qualities and many not having any space around them for ground loops.
The heat at St Catherine’s is provided by boreholes as the request from the Commissioners was that the ground should not be disturbed around the church. The ground source heat pumps ensure heating comfort not only during service times but also for the large number of visitors to the church, this type of system can be applied to any premises that are open to the public. Ecovision designed systems specific to the requirements of the buildings, a heat pump can provide a comfortable environment at a fraction of the cost of running a fossil fuelled system, particularly when coupled with an underfloor heating system.
