Grants & Incentives

There is a range of grants and incentives available to businesses and community groups and charities which invest in renewable energy systems. New initiatives come on stream on a regular basis, and Ecovision keeps abreast of all opportunities so that you are assured of best advice at all times. Under the enhanced capital allowances scheme (ECA) businesses investing in designated energy-saving technologies qualify to write off 100% of the cost against the taxable profits of the period during which the investment is made.

Businesses

For businesses, the primary current incentive comes in the shape of interest free loans for the purchase and installation of heat pumps and solar and renewable energy technologies. This scheme has recently been expanded. Loans are available for between £3,000 and £400,000. Initially only available to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), they’re now available to larger companies which don’t fall under the Carbon Reduction Commitment (typically, companies which spend less than £500,000 pa on electricity).

The loans are unsecured and interest free, with no arrangement fees and a straightforward application process. They’re repayable over a period of up to four years. Since the scheme is designed for energy savings which will cover the cost of repayments, the loan will effectively pay for itself.
